Stand Up Inspiration: 1974 Yellow

Stand Up Inspiration: 1974 Yellow

When I see inspiring things in the world or online, I stand up. Quite literally, I pop out of my seat and, only because I'm curious to read more, sit back down.

Inspiration jolts me out my seat, whether it comes in the form of a well designed room, a wonderful quote from an author, an artist whose work is astounding or an outrageously good looking plate of food.

And it's addictive. So I go back to the same websites over and over again to get that feeling. Websites like Freunde Von Freunden, Undecorate, Brain Pickings, swissmiss, decor8 and Design Sponge get me off my office stool and contemplating neglected corners of the home. They give me ideas on how to do things better, prettier, funner, more elegantly.

So I am beginning a series, called Stand Up Inspiration. I am going to share the things that make me stand up and hopefully when you read them, you'll get that jolt and get inspired too.

Maybe I can get you to start pacing around, getting ideas and smiling for no reason like I do. If anyone should ever write to me to tell me something I shared inspired them - that alone would be a reason to smile.

 So today, 1974 Yellow.

Because there is a certain shade of yellow that always makes my eyes widen ever so slightly and because it also happens to look great on me and because I have been seeing it everywhere for the first time since about 1974 when I was two years old....

First, that dress, I'll take 7 of them and wear them every single day. Second, her home, embodies minimalism, brightness, coziness, wonderfulness. Third, let me introduce a German web magazine that is one of my absolute favorite sites to relax and read: Freunde von Freunden. Look at the photos, read the interviews, connect with creatives around the world and get inspired.

Okay so now maybe you're thinking this color doesn't look good on you, but you feel as I do that it should just be around your home or in your office or garden shed. Design Sponge has this nice round up of accessories in a similar shade (not as mustardy as the dress, but still invigorating and mood lifting, right?). Design Sponge captures that just right mix of inspiring spaces, with plenty of DIY ideas and tutorials, a little of this and that - worthy of a daily check in, if you ask me.

Another chance to see this color in fashion and in interesting photography is in Work Magazine. I spent some time here and loved the style and freshness and emphasis on being inspired which is also what Tame Space is all about so, of course I loved it!
