Up Close: Lauren's Apartment

They say it's location, location, location. Well, Lauren's girlfriend's apartment has it first and foremost. The address is a secret but if you were standing at the Washington Square Park arch and I was screaming bloody murder from their building's courtyard in the middle of the night, you would probably call 911.

Inside is a wondrous thing because it's more spacious than you expect an apartment in this neighborhood to be. (I was once a student at NYU and the East Village apartments I've been to all seem so abbreviated.) And the windows. The windows are divine and the light they let into the rooms is divine and how you look when that light hits your face is, yep, you bet, divine.

We had a lovely brunch last weekend and I got to meet the girlfriend, the apartment and the puppy. I won't even get into the the fabulousness of the puppy. They were having trouble naming her as of last weekend so for the sake of this post I will call her Golda. We ate quiche and caught up.

I've claimed Lauren a close friend for over 10 years and she is, without a doubt, a brilliant spirit with a sharp wit and crazy smart. Together, the academic duo has book lined walls but plenty of art and photography and an eclectic mix of furniture.

And of course, the girlfriend is just lovely. She was kind, and so down to earth, funny and gracious enough to let me snap photos of her beautiful home.
